The Rushville All-School Reunion is set to begin over the Fourth of July weekend in Rushville with one of the highlights of weekend being a Fireworks show at the Historic Modisett Baseball Field on Saturday, July 3.
Registration will begin on Friday, July 2 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gordon-Rushville Middle School (formerly Rushville High School) gym. Alumni will received their packets which will include their t-shirts, dance tickets, and any other items necessary for the weekend.
All classes have been encouraged to create displays for class members that have passed away so they can be remembered during the weekend. These will be set up in the gym for viewing.
School tours of both the Elementary and Middle School will be offered on Friday along with get-togethers held by the various classes throughout town.
Area residents and alumni are encouraged to bring their car or truck, classic or modern to join up and cruise the town. The cruise will begin at 5:30 p.m. and start at the intersection of 8th and Sprague Streets. Jerry Kearns is coordinating the cruise and can be contacted at 308-360-0810 for more information.
On both Friday and Saturday nights at 7 p.m. the Sheridan County Players will present “Grease” at the Historic Plains Theatre. Call 308-327-2580 for tickets and more information. Seating is limiting so reserve your ticket early.
A street dance begins at 9 PM on Friday in front of the Twisted Turtle on downtown Main Street. The dance will feature live music and go until 1 a.m. or for easy listening music go to the American Legion from American Legion from 8:00 - 11:00 p.m.
Saturday events will begin bright and early with a 5K walk/run/stroll beginning at 7:00 a.m. The race will start at the Catholic Church and will directly benefit CARE. The Catholic Church will offer breakfast items.
Registration opens again 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the GRMS Gym for anyone still needing their packet.
The Parade of Classes will start at Noon and will begin at the Middle School gym. The Parade will head north to Highway 20 and then west to Modisett Park. The Alumni band will perform during the Parade. Individuals can contact Arielle Tiensvold Trujillo to join up. You do not need to be an alumnus to have some fun in the band.
The Parade will finish in Modisett Park where food vendors, bouncy houses, and musical entertainment will be for a majority of the weekend.
At 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, the steak feed will be hosted at the Middle School Gym. Marky’s Meat Market from Gering will be providing the supper which will run until 7:30 p.m.
When the sun sets on the horizon, the fireworks display will begin at Modisett Baseball Field. You will want to hurry over and find a great spot to see the show.
After the fireworks display, another street dance will be held in the Courthouse parking lot beginning around 9:00 p.m. and ending at 1:00 a.m.
Sunday morning will begin with a Memorial Service held at the Rushville Cemetery beginning at 9:30 a.m. Rushville Longhorn and Gordon-Rushville Mustang flags will be placed on the graves of alumni who have passed away. American flags will also be available to be placed on the graves of veterans.
Following the Memorial Ceremony, Jason and Megan Funk will be hosting a Faith-Fest church service beginning at 10:30 a.m. in Modisett Park. This will include live Christian music.
All events are open to the public but most do require the purchase of a ticket.
