Gordon Spring Tree Contest, watering volunteers needed for Adopt-A-Tree Program

Spring is upon us and the Gordon Tree Board is sponsoring its fourth annual contest for the Most Beautiful Flowering Spring Tree. Photo entries will be accepted until June 15. Then the public will have a twoweek opportunity to vote for their favorite tree on the City of Gordon’s Facebook page.

The Sand Painters Art Club’s yearly selection show is on display throughout the month of April at the Valentine Public Library. Residents and visitors alike are invited to experience a diverse display of artwork created by local artists.

The Chicoine Center at Chadon State College will host the seventh annual Lakota All-Star Basketball Games this coming Saturday, April 18. Five games will be played, two of them involving high school boys’ teams and one each of high school girls and college men and women.

The Sheridan County Courthouse and Sheridan County American Legion Posts welcomed in seniors from both Gordon-Rushville and Hay Springs High Schools for the Sheridan County Government Day on Tuesday, April 7.

The theme for this year was “A Night on the Ship of Dreams.” Seniors Marlee Keracik and Jaxon Kearns were crowned Queen and King respectively. Pictured in the photo include: Homecoming Queen Amara Funk, Kylie Goings, Lindsey Simonson, Taylor Gieselman, Claire Wellnitz, Reese Simonson, Keracik, Kearns, Hunter Brewer, Turner Anderson, Seth Mills, Elijah Ross, Daniel Martins, and Homecoming King Johnny Ziller.

Security First Insurance is proud to announce the presentation of a dividend check to the City of Rushville through the Nebraska Municipality Safety Group program. This year, the city will receive a dividend check totaling $14,273.
