The Mustang Girl’s Golf team made the long trip south to Kimball to participate in the Kimball Invitational on Tuesday, August 31.
Fresh off a strong showing at the WTC Tourney in Bayard, the team continued their early season success.
Juniors Kylie Coomes and Tessa Hurlburt both carded scores good enough to place them in the Top Ten for the Invite.
Coomes shot a 107 to finish in fifth place and Hurlburt shot a 110 for a sixth place finish.
Senior Tatiana Higgins and freshman Katie Coomes each competed in the Invite, giving the Mustangs enough golfers for a team score.
The Mustangs shot a 500 team score, which put them solidly into third place behind Mitchell and Perkins County.
Katie Coomes got her first taste of varsity action and will play an important role moving forward for the Mustangs.
In order to qualify for team scoring, there must be 4 golfers competing. Katie Coomes can fill that role for the team.
Head Coach David Morris knows how important this is for the Mustangs.
“We were happy to have Katie Coomes join us this week, because 4 golfers are necessary to qualify for a team score,” said Morris.
Up next for the Mustangs will be a Meet at Chadron on Tuesday, September 7. Results from this meet were not available at the time of press.
