Tuesday afternoon, the Hay Springs track teams saw their first action of the season at the Gordon-Rushville Quad meet.
The Western Trails Conference all-conference selections for boys basketball, girls basketball, and wrestling have been announced.
On March 10, 2012, the Gordon-Rushville Jr. Wrestling Club hosted their tournament. It was a great day of wrestling and was well attended.

The Hay Springs Lady Hawks knew Thursday’s opening game at the state tournament would be a tough one against #1 seed Lindsay Holy Family and they were right.

The Lady Hawks basketball team is heading to Lincoln next week for their fifth straight trip to the Nebraska State Basketball tournament after defeating the Leyton Lady Warriors in the D2-6 District title game Friday night in Bayard.

The Gordon-Rushville Mustangs defeated the Bridgeport Bulldogs 52-47 in district play Tuesday in Alliance to advance to the C1-12 district final.

Tanner Johnson was Gordon/Rushville’s lone wrestler at the State Meet this past weekend and came home as the Class C 220 lb. State Champion. Tanner is the third Mustang to win the gold; Dayne Reddy was the last in 2008. Together Rushville, Gordon and the Mustangs have produced 46 state titles since the first two that Gordon produced in 1967. Tanner’s older brother, Brandon, brought home the gold his senior year in 2004.

The Gordon-Rushville Mustangs finally found a team that likes to run as much as they do. The Mustangs travelled to Valentine for their regular season finale against Valentine and lost to a very athletic and versatile Badger squad 75-59.

The state contention of Hawk grapplers competed hard at the state tournament last weekend despite not placing. Levi Ray lost in his opening match to Mason Klingelhoefer of Amherst, the eventual runner-up, in a pin. In Ray’s next match he fell to Garrett Sunderup of Fullerton, also in fall. Levi Ray finished his season with a 25-17 record. Joey Johnson opened his tournament against Evan Aschoff of Plainview and was defeated in a fall. In his next match, Johnson lost to Cody

The Lady Hawks opened sub-district play Tuesday night in Sutherland as the #1 seed in the D2-11 Sub-Distict and came away with a 41-25 win over the Arthur County Lady Wolves before defeating the Hyannis Lady Longhorns 44-39 Thursday night to win their fifth straight sub-district title.

The Gordon-Rushville Lady Mustangs ended their season last Monday with a loss in sub-district action to the Mitchell Tigers. The game was played in Alliance and was very low scoring affair with a final score of 37-32. The Lady Mustangs had opportunities to win the game, but just couldn’t find the right combination to extend their season.
