G-R Speech is rolling right along with 2024 season

The Gordon-Rushville speech season started slow but now is on a roll.

The season officially started January 20 in Alliance, Neb. where there were no final qualifiers and it has only gone up from there.

At Valentine, only one student, Ciara Carbajal, was able to perform and placed 1st in the poetry novice division.

At Chadron, Claire Wellnitz placed 3rd in poetry; Haley Dane placed 2nd in serious and 3rd in humorous. Hadley Banks was a strong novice poetry competitor.

Western Trails Conference is where the team really shined and placed 100% of entries in the top six.

The poetry winners were Claire Wellnitz, 2nd, Ciara Carbajal 4th, Hadley Banks 6th. Haley Dane placed 2nd and 5th in humorous and serious prose, respectively.

G-R just finished hosting our home meet this past Saturday.

It was a wonderful day of great competition and a memorable day with the first middle school speech meet.

In poetry, Claire Wellnitz placed 2nd and Ciara Carbajal placed 3rd. Haley Dane placed 1st in humorous and 2nd in serious.

The G-R Speech team is very appreciative of everyone that helped make the home speech meet a true success. We truly appreciate every community member that took time out of their day to come support the teams by judging or watching the rounds.
