GR Overdrive finds success at State Meet at Regis University

The GR Overdrive First Tech Challenge Robotics Team wrapped up their season on Saturday, February 17 by attending the State Competition at Regis University in Denver, Colo.

Their season began in January with a competition in Broomfield, Colo. where they received second place in the Innovate Award.

The Innovate Award celebrates a Team that thinks imaginatively and has the ingenuity, creativity, and inventiveness to make their designs come to life.

Next, they competed in a virtual competition where the interviews were via zoom and the robot rounds were scored online.

They had an amazing competition where they received the top place award, called Inspire, and were the top robot team as well.

The Inspire Award winner is an inspiration to other Teams, acting with Gracious Professionalism both on and off the Playing Field.

This competition qualified them for the State Meet as well as gave each member of the team a great scholarship to Regis University.

The scholarship that each student received is for $30,000 per year for a four year education. This scholarship has to be used at the host’s campus, Regis University.

At the State Meet on February 17, there were 28 teams competing to go on to Nationals.

At the end of the day, GR Overdrive was chosen by one of the top ranked team alliances to compete in the championship robot rounds.

Four alliances consisting of three teams each compete for the top place. Their alliance fought hard and came in second at the end of the day.
