By Scott Bidroski A rapidly growing business in the State of Nebraska has found its newest home on Main Street in Gordon.
Safe At Home, a trusted inhome care and companion service, has opened it’s fifth office at 106 N. Main St. and Gordon resident Kaci Adonis is serving as the Operations Manager.
Safe At Home was founded by Amber Fields who was born in Pine Ridge, S.D. Fields has a lot of family and roots still in the area and as her business grew from its beginnings in Sidney, Neb. she has wanted to give back to the community she grew up in. Enter Adonis and the caregivers from Safe At Home as they begin to help residents of the area with a variety of inhome needs.
“Safe At Home has grown very quickly in the first five years.”
“It is not going to take very long to continue to open offices throughout the Panhandle and get into areas that are otherwise overlooked,” said Adonis.
On their website, safeathomesidney.com , there are many different services that are listed that can be utilized.
The categories are Housekeeping, Personal Hygiene, Meal Preparation and Nutrition Care, Errands and Transportation, Mobility Assistance, Dementia Care, and Social and Companionship.
One area that Safe At Home cannot provide services in is medical care. This includes transportation to medical appointments, doctors, etc. But they find a way to help in so many other facets of life, there are still plenty of options.
Adonis notes that at the Gordon office, Housekeeping, Transportation, and Companionship are the most common resources utilized at this point.
“It can be difficult to vacuum, dust, etc. or do your normal day-to-day cleaning as you get older,” said Adonis “Also, if a person does not drive, they can become very bored and lonely. It can be hard for people to get the things that they need,” she added.
Adonis transitions to her position at Safe At Home from a case management position for people with disabilities in South Dakota. She focused on helping with accessibility needs but has been wanting to get back to her local area and help out here.
Her previous experience, while not the same, brings a lot to the table for her clients and caregivers.
“The accessibility and care giving background interlock so much and are similar in nature. I knew this position was right up my alley and something I would like to do,” said Adonis.
If you are an individual who may be interested in the services provided or you have a loved one that may benefit, there are several ways to start that process.
You can visit their website, listed earlier in this article, to review all the details of the company.
You can also call Adonis locally at 308-665-7026 to set up an appointment or ask questions.
She is also at their office Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m. so feel free to stop by anytime at 106 N. Main to chat and find out more.
Safe At Home is also looking to add caregivers to their team currently. The same route you would take to set up care services will work the same for those interested in becoming a caregiver. Website, phone number, or a stop by the office will get you started in the right direction.
Safe At Home - Gordon currently services an area that includes Alliance, Crawford, then all the way back down Highway 20 through Sheridan County. There are plans in place as well to expand the purview in the near future east to Valentine and possibly even further as the business becomes more and more established.
“I get to touch base with a lot of different people each day and I get to make sure they get the things they need. This position is right up my alley.”
