Entertainment takes center stage for PRCA Rodeos this week

By Scott Bidroski Three new faces, along with a big equipment upgrade, will be providing the entertainment for the upcoming PRCA Rodeos this week at McGinley Arena.A whole lot of new is a good way to sum up the recent changes in the line-up for the rodeos.

4-H Horse show kicks off 2024 festivities at McGinley Arena

The Sheridan County 4-H Horse Show was held on Saturday, July 13. Members participated in several different events throughout the day. The day started off with Showmanship.

Sherry Retzlaff awarded the first “Good Neighbor Award”

By Heidi Beguin For the first time ever, the Sheridan County Agricultural Society is awarding a Good Neighbor Award and the recipient is Sherry Retzlaff of Rushville. “We wanted to create an award that was nomination driven and not chosen by us,” Ag Society Secretary Courtney Ostrander explains.

He had just won his second NCAA Division II National Wrestling Tournament championship by edging Marty Usman of Nebraska-Kearney 3-2 for the 174-pound title. Hunter finished his college career with a 133-32 record.

Nebraska’s Cowboy Trail still incomplete nearly 30 years later

Eight Veterans receive their Quilt of Valor

By Scott Bidroski Eight Veterans who served for the United States military received a Quilt of Valor in two private ceremonies in Gordon. Five members of the Bernard Ganshert family, along with Bernard himself, were recognized for their service at the Ganshert residence.
