Nebraska Fish Art Contest open for entries

Students in kindergarten through 12th grade can discover the outdoors by participating in the Nebraska Fish Art Contest.The 2024 contest, sponsored by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, Wildlife Forever and Bass Pro Shops, is accepting entries through Feb. 28, 2024. Enter at statefishart.org.

Allie Tyree named WNCC Alliance Campus Director

Western Nebraska Community College named Allie Tyree as the new Alliance campus director in January.Tyree began with WNCC in February of 2018 as the executive secretary of the Alliance Campus and was promoted in 2022 to the Alliance workforce specialist.

On-Farm Research Network meeting will look at palmer amaranth

The Nebraska 2024 On-Farm Research Network meeting will be held in Alliance on Feb. 21 at the Knight Museum and Sandhills Center. The workshops highlight collaboration with growers and Nebraska Extension educators.

ACE Board approves $350,000 distribution to Nebraska member communities

ACE, the Public Alliance for Community Energy, is distributing $5,068 to the City of Gordon as its share of $350,000 being distributed through ACE’s revenue return program to the 76 Nebraska member communities of the notfor- profit, community-owned natural gas supplier.

Chadron State College Athletic Director Joel R. Smith announced he will retire, as announced by CSC Athletics Tuesday, January 30.Smith, who was the commissioner of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference for 12 years, has been CSC’s athletic director since 2013.
