Man killed on highway in hit and run accident

The Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office and Nebraska State Patrol are investigating a possible hit and run accident which resulted in a fatality that occurred during the early morning hours of June 19, 2025 near mile marker 74 on Highway 87 in Sheridan County, Nebraska. At approximately 1:00 a.m.

WESTCO and Land O’Lakes Foundation donate $40,000 to Hay Springs Volunteer Fire Department in honor of Randy Turman

WESTCO CEO David Briggs presented a $40,000 donation to the Hay Springs Volunteer Fire Department on June 19th, on behalf of WESTCO and the Land O’Lakes Foundation.

Gordon Lions Clubs hands out awards at annual installation

Gordon Lions Club held their Annual Installation and Awards Banquet on June 10. The International Theme for Lions Club this year is MAKE YOUR MARK. President Jean Hensley shared the years 2024-25 service projects and presented awards and thank yous to the club’s outstanding members.

Local high school musicians participate in 29th Nebraska Masonic All-Star Marching Band

Three Gordon-Rushville High School students, Robert Moore, Draven Russell, and Caden Sommers, were among 130 high school students from across Nebraska who participated in the 29th Nebraska Masonic All-Star Marching Band, which performed the halftime show for the Shrine Bowl game in Kearney.

Holden James Ruse, who is the grandson of Gary and Joyce Ruse of Gordon, Neb., just completed his degree at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.Ruse received his Engineering Degree and finished his collegiate schooling with a 4.0 grade point average.
