Margaret M. Nelson, age 95, of Rushville, Nebraska, passed away at the Gordon Memorial Hospital on April 11, 2025. A public visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at the Pier Funeral Home in Gordon, Nebraska. A graveside funeral service will be held at the Gordon Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2025.
Margaret M. Nelson was born August 1, 1929, to Gerald and Loma (Anson) Greenamyre on the farm southwest of Gordon, Nebraska. She attended rural school in the first eight grades and graduated from Gordon High School in 1946. She taught in a rural school for several years.
She married Archie Nelson on December 8, 1951. They lived on the family farm in Nebraska until 1964 when they purchased a farm near Batesland, South Dakota.
Margaret enjoyed country life, raising her children, gardening, canning, sewing, crocheting, quilting, and helping with farm work. She lived on the farm until she moved to The Parkville Lodge Assisted Living in Rushville, Nebraska.
Margaret is survived by her children Rex Nelson Batesland, South Dakota; Janice (Dave) McAlpine, Elkhorn, Nebraska; and LeAnn (Mike) Feuillerat, Johnson Siding, South Dakota; 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Virginia Greenamyre.
She was preceded in death by her husband Archie Nelson, parents Gerald and Loma Greenamyre, in-laws Nels and Elsie Nelson, brother and wife Gordon and Lorraine Greenamyre, brother Dale Greenamyre, sister Leona and husband Jim Hancock, greatgrandson Carter Feuillerat, in-laws Elwood Nelson, Olga and Jack Taylor, Helen Nelson, W.R. and Anna Mae Nelson, Frances and Rennard Snyder, Dorothy and Ken Hooper.
