Dorothy Tinsley

Dorothy “Dot” Tinsley, 92 of Mitchell, Neb. was called to her heavenly home on June 8, 2025. A celebration of her life will be held on June 27, at 11 a.m. at the Mitchell Federated Church. Bridgman Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and cremation was chosen with inurnment at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens in North Platte at a later date. Dot was born in Ellsworth, Kan. to Forrest and Iona Branson, on December 27, 1932. After graduating from Hemingford High School in 1950, she continued her college education in Ottawa, Kansas. In 1951, Dot married and was blessed with five daughters. She raised them on a ranch north of Rushville.

In May of 1972, she married the love of her life, Norman Tinsley. Together, they made their home in Mitchell and were blessed to raise a blended family of eight children. Their home was a place of warmth--always open to others.

Dot was known for her kindness, hospitality, and remarkable memory-never forgetting a face or meaningful moment. Dot was devoted to her family, faith, and community—always out and about or on the phone, sharing her warmth and keeping in touch. She was active in the Mitchell Federated Church and the local food pantry.

She is lovingly survived by her children: Debbie (Von) Keller, Diana (Bill) Mansell, Darien Allen (Bill Rabeler), Demaris (Todd) Axthelm, Todd (Pamela) Tinsley, Tracy (Connie) Shirey, and Trent Tinsley. She was a devoted grandmother to 19 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored. She is also survived by her brother, Lee (Mary) Branson; four nephews; and many cherished friends.

She was welcomed into eternal rest by her parents; her beloved husband, Norman Tinsley; her cherished daughter, Donelle Robins; sister, Tressa Duncan; and a niece. In celebration of her life and faith, a memorial has been established at the Mitchell Federated Church.
