Amos (Bud) Knight

Amos W. (Bud) Knight, age 101, of Rushville, Neb., passed away on June 23, 2026, at Gordon Countryside Care in Gordon, NE. Services will be held on July 2, 2026, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, and a burial will be held at the Rushville City Cemetery. “Bud” as known by all was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Amos Wilson Knight was born on January 22, 1925 in Phillip, South Dakota to Earl and Jessie (Neville) Knight. He grew up on a ranch in the Mileville, South Dakota area. He served in the US Navy in 1944 to 1946, and later served in the National Guard. He was a life-long member of the VFW.

He married Darlene Foster in 1952, and to this union four children were born, two sons and two daughters.

Bud worked on ranches. He was a South Dakota brand inspector and in later years worked at the Black Thunder mine in Wright, Wyoming. He also remodeled homes and sold them, and enjoyed his woodwork. He moved to Rushville, Neb., in 2007.

He saw his 13 grandchildren. Gave some woodwork to each of his grandkids. He leaves to mourn four children, Nadiene and her husband Glen McCreedy of Winner, S.D. Florence and husband Bud Lawson of Surprise, Arizona. Jerry Knight and his wife, Phylis of Rushville, Neb. Bud Knight and his wife, Gina, of Rushville, Neb. Also, 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Knight. His parents, three brothers Edwain, Clinton, and Milo Knight. Four sisters, Ethel Anderson, Laura Kjar, Elva Contlay, and Myrtle Hawthorne, Grandkids Dawn Knight, Jeff McCready, great granddaughter Tallan Knight, and an infant son, Jerry Knight.
