Jack Kearns

John (Jack) B. Kearns (age 85) passed away on August 6, 2024. Jack was born in Rushville, Neb, on June 28,1939 to Joseph and Laura Kearns. He was the older brother to Patricia, Richard, Robert and Ronald Kearns. Jack grew up working on the family farm. He attended Rushville High School and graduated in May of 1956. Jack married Mona Jean (Williams) on June 2, 1960 and were married for sixty- four years. Jack had many successful endeavors during his life. He managed a grocery store in White Clay, Neb. (1960-64), owned and operated a gas station in Pine Ridge, S.D. (1964-68) and then purchased a tire store in Scottsbluff, Neb. (196874). After owning the tire store, Jack became a successful insurance and financial planner. He was a member of the NAIFA organization serving in roles as President, Legislative and Membership Chairman. He also earned membership in the Million-Dollar Round Table for many years along with other prestigious awards in the industry. He retired and moved with his wife Jean to Boerne, Tex. in October of 2018.

Jack was a devout Catholic, serving as an RCIA instructor for 25 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Scottsbluff, Neb. where he attended St. Agnes Church Catholic Church for fifty years. Jack helped to organize the first YMCA swim teams in Scottsbluff, Neb. which then developed into high school swimming programs. Jack was a lifelong avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan and enjoyed attending and watching the games.

Jack was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and greatgrandfather. He was blessed to have four children, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Jean, Boerne, Tex. ,his brother Robert (Sharon) Wenatchee, Wash..; his children Chad (Cheryl) Eloy Ariz., Susan Moore, Boerne,Tex., Warren, Hampton, Ark., and Amee Cave (John) Larkspur Colo.; grandchildren: Caden Kearns, Conor Kearns, Katee Gray (Corby), Kyle Moore (Amy), Karlee Moore (Nick), Jessica Puffer (Ben), Jamie Flaherty (Patrick), Taylor Ventura.; great- grandchildren: Cambryn Gray, Owen Moore, Mary Rose Moore, Lucy Moore, Robert Bolin, Hazel Puffer, Calvin Puffer, and Jack Flaherty. He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Laura Kearns, brother Richard (Carol), sister Patricia, brother Ronald and son-in-law Mark Moore.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon on August 23, 2024 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 202 West Kronkosky Street, Boerne, Tex. 78006. The Rosary will be at 11:30 am. There will be a Memorial on Monday, August 26, 2024 at 11:00 am in Scottsbluff, Neb., at St. Agnes Catholic Church. The Rite of Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, the Holy Savior Hospice, or Mass.
