Rodney Buckles, 73, of Martin, S.D., passed away while in comfort care at Bennett County Hospital. He was born Nov. 26, 1952, in Gordon Hospital to Leo E. Buckles and Loretta Hill Buckles. He lived in Merriman, Neb., as a child, then moved to California with family. They then moved south of Martin and went to work for his uncle and Dad on the Buckles Ranch. When the ranch was sold, he went to work for Bennett Co. Road Department until retirement.
On June 12, 1993, he married Lorraine Olson. Between the two of them, they had one daughter and three sons: Jennifer (Ron) Mead, Jarrod Buckles, Greg (Tonya) Olson, and Kelvin Olson.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine; mother, Loretta Buckles; mother-in-law, Beverly Howey; brother, Allen Buckles; 4 children; 16 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 brother-in-law; 6 sistersin- law and their husbands.
Preceded in death by his father, Leo Buckles and grandparents. Pallbearers: the grand children. Memorials maybe sent to the Martin Senior Center, or Lindsey Memorial Church.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Gordon City Cemetery, in Gordon, Nebraska.
