Hay Springs City Council looking for new mayor and public feedback on proposed fees/rate schedule

By Heidi Beguin The regular meeting of the Hay Springs City Council was held on Tuesday, March 12, and called to order at 7 p.m.Council members present included Keith Kearns, Chuck Toof, Dave Agnes, and Luke Marcy. Mayor Glenn Muhr and city clerk Samantha Orr were also present.

G-R ProStart puts final ingredients on successful culinary season

Six Hawks earn spot at State Speech

The Hay Springs Hawks Speech Team competed in Class D District Speech Meet this past Monday, March 11. When the dust settled at Western Nebraska Community College, six Hawks picked up the qualification for the State Meet in Kearney, Nebraska.

Placings were as follows: Haley Dane placed 6th in serious prose, Claire Wellnitz placed 4th in poetry and Ciara Carbajal placed 3rd in poetry. Carbajal punched her ticket with the 3rd place finish to compete in Kearney, Neb. at the State Speech Meet on Thursday, March 21.

Anderson selected to State FFA Choir

Senior Jordyn Anderson has been selected to the State Future Farmers of America (FFA) Choir. During the State FFA Convention this upcoming April, Anderson will participate with the choir. This honor was earned by Anderson who auditioned for the part.

Adrianna Haffner earns full ride at WNCC

By Heidi Beguin Adrianna Haffner, a senior at Hay Springs High School, has been awarded a Tuition Remission Scholarship with Western Nebraska Community College, which will cover 100% of her tuition for four semesters as long as she maintains at least a 2.0 GPA.
