Darwin Dee Toof, 68, passed away on November 23, 2025. Darwin was born May 29, 1957 in Rushville, Neb. to Ronald, Sr and Gleeh Toof. He spent his early years in Rushville where he developed a love for sports. In his youth he participated in football, wrestling and track/field. He was especially proud of his accomplishments in track where he set records and many remember how excellent he was at wrestling. He also enjoyed games of strategy such as chess.
At a young age Darwin met the woman with whom he would later share his three children Brandy, Gleeh, and Darwin Jr. and he left Rushville.
After leaving Darwin dedicated many years to his trade as a glazier. He was a proud member of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades first in California and later in Colorado. Through his skilled craftsmanship and strong work ethic he built a respected career in this field.
Darwin eventually retired in Box Elder, S.D. where he spent the rest of his days doing what he loved most which was fixing, tinkering and building. He was happiest when working with his hands and creating something meaningful. He was always willing to lend his knowledge and skills to those around him.
Darwin was preceded in death by his sister, Jeanine Toof and granddaughter Trinity Toof.
Darwin is survived by his children: Brandy Bayne, Gleeh Eva, and Darwin Toof, Jr. (all of Box Elder) and his siblings: June Toof of Rushville, Candy Theis of Rushville, Ronald Toof Jr, of Box Elder, and Vaughn Toof of Alliance.
A graveside service will be held at Parkview Cemetery in Rushville on June 13, 2025 at 11 a.m. Luncheon to follow at New Christian Community Church (Youth Center) located at 111 Loofburrow St. Rushville, NE.
