Debra J. “Debbie” Kernick was born May 7, 1959 to Philip and Dorothy Shedeed (Doering) in Gregory, South Dakota. Debbie was married to Scott Kernick on June 19, 1993 in Gordon and to this union a daughter Shay was born in 1995. They were married until his death in 2019.

Celia Sandoz Ostrander Barth

Celia Sandoz Ostrander Barth, died August 22, 2025 at Pioneer Manor in Hay Springs, Neb. at the age of 99 years, a week away from turning 100. She was born August 30, 1925, the eldest child of 3 in Rushville, Neb. to Jules Alexander Sandoz and Mary Matilda “Kicken” Sandoz.

Peg Kuester

Peg Ann Kuester, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on August 12, 2025, surrounded by her family. Peg was born on December 30, 1952, to Clayton and Doris Tallon, and was raised 12 miles north of Rushville, Nebraska.

A Memorial Service for Peggy M. (Barth) Brauer will be held on Monday, August 4, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Alma, Nebraska, with Pastor Gale Dorn officiating. A private inurnment will be held at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, south of Maxwell, Nebraska.

Willie Thomas Witt, age 81, passed away July 19, 2025 at home in Gordon, Nebraska. Funeral services are planned for 2 p.m. at the Pier Funeral home in Gordon followed by graveside burial at the Clinton cemetery and a 5 p.m. reception at the legion in Gordon.

James Oscar Smith passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on June 26, 2025. He was born on January 17, 1947, to Lilly and Ellis Smith and was raised on the family dairy in La Veta, Colorado.
