Lois R. Gaskins

Lois R. Gaskins, 92, left us on March 1, 2025 at Box Butte General Hospital, Alliance, Neb. She was residing in Alliance at Highland Park Assisted Living. Lois was a lifelong resident in Cherry County, she was a wise and beloved matriarch and was fondly referred to as “Mrs. Eli”.

Ben Trueblood

Ben joined his loved ones in heaven on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from his home, at the age of 72. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack G. and Virginia L. (Sanders) Trueblood, and his mother-in-law, Flora Morey. Ben was born in Gordon, Nebraska, on August 13, 1952.

Helen Tittle

Helen Louise Tittle, 90, of Lincoln, Neb. passed away at Southlake Village surrounded by her family on February 24, 2025.Helen was born June 30, 1934, in Gordon, Neb. to Erma Frances Otte (Pfisterer) and Fredrick Charles Otte. She was the youngest of 5 children.

Melanie Bourne

Melanie Dawn (Retzlaff) Bourne, 51, of Clinton, Neb., passed away unexpectedly on February 26, 2025 at her home. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the Gordon American Legion in Gordon, Nebraska.

Thomas Pursel

Thomas Seymour Pursel was born on January 1, 1947, in Bassett, Nebraska, and passed away on January 29, 2025, in Omaha, Nebraska. Tom attended both Mullen and Gordon (Nebraska) High Schools, graduating from Gordon in 1965.

Eleanor Flathman

Eleanor Anne Jungck Hansen Flathman, aged 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at her home in Pine City, Minnesota. She was born July 8th, 1929, to Virla (Bare) and Louis C. Jungck in rural Rushville, Nebraska, where she spent her childhood on the family farm.

Don Wiley

Donald Jay Wiley was born April 23, 1943 to Edward and Emma Wiley in Pilger, Nebraska. While still young the family moved to rural Missouri. Don was the second to youngest of 8 siblings and along with his father Edward, was the only one in the family not affected by Polio.

Cherrill Cobb

Cherrill Dawn DeFrance Cobb, age 85, was born with her twin sister Carrell, in Rushville, Neb. on June 20, 1939, to Don and Vi DeFrance. She lived on a ranch southeast of Gordon with her parents, twin sister Carrell and older sister Wanda.

James Agler

James Robert Agler was born on February 21, 1952, to Robert Darwin and Carol Stringer Agler. He had one sister, Sharon Sue. Jim grew up with his family on their farm south of Hay Springs, Neb.Jim graduated from Hay Springs High School and went to Northeast College in Norfolk, Neb.

Randy Turman

Randy Paul Turman was born on New Year’s Day in 1957. He was the third child of James and Wilma Turman. God took him into his arms on Sunday, December 29, 2024 at his home, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
