Bulldogs spoil Senior Night for G-R

By Scott Bidroski The Gordon-Rushville Girls Basketball team hosted one final game at home before they began their postseason play.

The Bridgeport Bulldogs came to town on Friday, February 9 to take on the Mustangs on their Senior Night.

Five young ladies were honored prior to the game as they have donned the Mustang uniform for the final time at their home gym.

Lillee Schmidt, McKinley Grover, Skye Tausan, Trinity Taylor, and Haley Johnson all were honored prior to the game for their hard work and dedication over the previous four years.

Following the ceremony, the two teams warmed up and got ready to face off on the hardwood.

Bridgeport brought their 21-0 record to the contest, looking to complete their regular season with a perfect 22-0 record.

The Bulldogs would flex their muscles in the first half, jumping out to a 39-15 lead.

That momentum would continue through the second half as the Bulldogs would control to the final score, 71-36.

Senior McKinley Grover led the offense with 15 points and 13 rebounds.

Fellow senior Haley Johnson added in 11 points of her own and 3 steals.

Senior Trinity Taylor finished with 8 points as well in the loss.

The two teams kept things familiar the following week as they had been drawn to play once again at the Class C1-12 Sub-District Tournament in Sidney, Neb. on Tuesday, February 13.

The results from this contest were not available at the time of print and will be included in the February 21 issue.

Following the loss on February 9 to the Bulldogs, the Mustangs record stands at 14-6 overall.
