It was a busy weekend on the diamond for both Security First Regulator Youth Baseball teams. Both the 10U and 12U squads traveled to Hot Springs, S.D. for a trio of games in the Mammoth Mashup Tournament.
The older group began their play with a match-up with Hot Springs White. It was all Regulators in this one as they cruised to the 15-0 opening round win.
This advanced them into the semi-finals against the Belle Fouche Broncs. The tables were flipped on the Regs though, as Belle Fouche pushed ahead for the 6-0 lead and held on for the win. This dropped Security First into the third place game where they would face off against Chadron. The Regs capped their long day at the ballpark against their Highway 20 neighbors with a 8-2 win. This got the team some hardware for their efforts, as they took home the third place medal.
On the other fields, the 10U group was grinding their way to a medal as well. The young guns started their day with a 11-0 win over Box Elder, S.D. They then faced off with Sturgis, S.D. in the semi-finals. Sturgis jumped out to an early lead but the Regulators would fight back, cutting the lead down to 9-7. Due to time limits on the tournament games, the Regs ran out of time and lost the contest by that score. And just like the older group, the Regulators got a chance at third place against Chadron. Security First got out early for the lead and did not let go for the 8-3 win. The win over Chadron gave the young guns their own third place medal as well.
The Security First Regulator youth baseball teams are comprised of young men from Hay Springs, Rushville, and Gordon. They compete against local competition throughout their regular season while also fulfilling their schedules in their hometowns as well.
