The 2024-25 Girls Wrestling season got started with a pair of gold medals for the Mustangs.
The team traveled to Chadron High School to compete in a tournament with 16 teams from all classes.

Juniors Lainey Fillmore and Jenifer Banister would both finish in first place in their weight classes to score big points for the team.
Sophomore Stormy Tesch would finish in second place to earn 19 points of her own.
Sophomore Madyson DeHart-Davis would also battle for 4 points and a 2-2 record.
The team finished in seventh place out of the sixteen teams at the Chadron tourney.
Following a quick break, they reloaded the van and headed east this time to O’Neill for another tournament on Saturday, December 7.
The field was much larger in this tournament as girls from all over Nebraska attended.
Fillmore continued her strong wrestling though on the bigger stage, finishing her day with a 3-1 record and a second place finish in the 140 bracket.
Banister would finish in 6th place overall in a loaded 130 bracket with a 3-2 record.
Freshman Eliza Golden, DeHart-Harris, and Tesch also picked up valuable mat time on the trip to O’Neill.
The girls will turn their attention to the Chadron/Valentine Triangular with will take place on Thursday, December 12 next.
They will follow that up with their home tournament on Saturday, December 14.
This is one of two home events the grapplers from G-R will compete on their home floor.
All fans are encouraged to come out for the event on December 14 to watch a full day of excellent wrestling action.
