The Security First Regulator Baseball teams hosted a special day following the holiday by honoring their three seniors who are graduating from the program.
Hunter McDonald, Bronson Freeseman, and Dylan Young were all recognized prior to the first pitch on Sunday, July 6 as the outgoing seniors for the legion baseball program.
The week began though with the Juniors and Seniors team traveling to Gering, Neb. on Wednesday, July 2.
The home team was not very kind to the Regulators though, downing them 16-8 and 15-2.
The Fourth of July holiday then sandwiched over the next few days but the team returned to Modisett Ball Park in Rushville on July 6 to face Martin.
This doubleheader was also part of the RHS and GRHS Class Reunion which took place over the weekend, providing one more event for the busy weekend in Rushville.
In game one, the Regulator Juniors took it to their opponents from South Dakota, winning 10-1.
In the win, freshman Braylon Holston collected three hits and 2 RBI’s.
Khai Janssen, Kannon Leeper, and Brayden Heiting also collected two hits a piece.
On the mound, Heiting got the win as well tossing two innings and striking out three hitters.
Following the Juniors game, the teams regrouped for the Seniors tilt.
This one was controlled by Martin as they exploded for a huge fourth inning to cruise to the 18-1 victory.
As previously mentioned, this marked the final time for the three seniors playing on their home field.
The Juniors will now turn their attention to the Class C-7 Area Tournament which Rushville will play host to.
Tri-County (Orchard, Neb.), Valentine, Bridgeport, DCB (Dannebrog-Cairo-Boelus), Kimball, and the Regulators make up the Area Tournament bracket.
Games will begin on Friday, July 11 and the Regulators will play Tri-County first at 7 p.m. that day.
Action will continue everyday through Tuesday, July 15 until a champion is crowned.
